Turning to your intuition for guidance in your job search is one of the best ways successfully navigate in today’s challenging work environment. Here are five key steps to connect with your inner knowing that will help you in this vital process.

1. Meditate regularly – Research shows that regular meditators are more likely to alter habits or even moods. Focusing on what you want is a way to uplift your spirit to approach a difficult period as a blessing. Even short periods of quiet reflection make a difference. Research shows that as little as 10 minutes of quieting your mind will have a powerful impact on your attitude and thoughts.

2. Open up your heart energy – Before your interview (phone or live) ask yourself what does your body says about the vibes you want to send out. Look at your posture, even if you are doing a phone interview, dress up. Take note of the both the positive and negative things your intuition picks up. Make a checklist of what your inner knowing tells you. Once you become aware of your body’s signals it will become easier to make choices which are aligned with what you want. When you go through the checklist pay attention to all your feelings. Subconsciously we often connect with our past experiences and then unknowingly attract in the same circumstances! Repeating the same lessons will only delay your progress. Determine if there is unfinished business that you need to address.

3. Take time for a pep talk! Everything is about sales…and selling yourself to yourself is critical. Pay attention to your self talk. If you don’t believe in you, who will? Know yourself and become aware of what raises your energy level. If it is reading something uplifting make time for that everyday. For many people listening to motivating songs is a way to help raise their consciousness. My theme song in one difficult period of my life was Gloria Estefan’s “Coming Out of the Darkness.”

4. Connect with your interviewer. I’m not saying be phony, but find a way to notice something that matters about this person that stands out. Use this approach in every meeting that you have with people, you never know who will open the door of opportunity for you. Creating a positive attitude goes a long way to affect others. The energy of communication happens in our subtle energy. It travels from heart to heart and is subconsciously impacted on the person’s mind.

5. Do soulful giving. One of the best ways I’ve found to shift out of a difficult period is to get busy giving. Three years ago, when I faced the tremendous loss of my Mother’s death, while trying to build my practice, I gave God a list of everything I needed. Later that day while driving by a neighborhood church my intuition came back with the question, “You told me what you need, but what are you willing to give?” I parked my car and went into the church and signed up to join a team to be a volunteer to help feed the homeless. It took a few weeks, but slowly but surely things started to improve on all levels. Not only did giving allow for my heart to heal but the energy shifted and clients started to come in on a regular basis.

Awareness is power. People who are aware and awake to staying positive in their lives are less likely to develop heart problems, then those who tend to be depressed. A study published in Europe’s leading cardiology journal, The European Heart Journal, shows that there is an independent relationship between positive emotions and heart disease. Each of us has the ability to connect with our intuition to transform and transmit ourselves to live longer and healthier lives. Here are two steps to help you reprogram and heal yourself during times of stress:

1. Check in with your body regularly. Your body is aware of everything. Every cell knows what you are busy thinking, how your moods change, and where your deepest beliefs lie. One of the most acute stress levels that many people are facing is the fear of a potential job loss. Even thinking about losing your job has found to be more damaging then an actual firing. Our attitude and our interpretation of the challenges we face influence the outcome of our experiences.

2. Stay positive. Optimistic responses can be learned. Create the belief that any difficulty you are facing is temporary, an isolated circumstance that can be overcome through your efforts and abilities. Watch the tendency to practice negative behavior patterns such as smoking, drinking excessively and staying up at night worrying about your problems. If you can not afford counseling consider going to a church for assistance or a non-profit organization which provides services on a sliding scale. It is often more difficult for men to talk about their problems then women and they are also 80 percent more likely to die of a heart attack or develop a heart problems during times of extreme stress.

Awareness would have no power if your body did not respond to it. Life is one flow of awareness and our intuition serves as one of the most powerful tools in our life journey to help us create greater health and happiness in our lives.

Most of our behavior is invisible to us. When our life does not work out the way we plan, we often look anywhere but inside to find the answers that we need. To redirect our lives we must examine and reconsider the invisible beliefs which shape the direction of our lives. When we use our intuition it will help us make visible the invisible structure which supports our ability to make changes that we desire.

Journalist Lynne McTaggert author of the The Field: The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe wrote: “Particles exist in all possible states until disturbed by us-by observing or measuring-at which point, they settle down, at long last into something real.”

Our thoughts, feelings and beliefs are the programs in this invisible energy field. Most of us are distracted by our fear-based perceptions and refuse to acknowledge or believe our own inherent goodness. The invisible energy field that shapes matter, as defined by quantum physics has the same invisible shaping that metaphysicans define as “spirit.”

Most of us are too busy to make dedicated time to connect with our spirit. We must use little chunks of time to do this, instead of waiting for the perfect day in which you have “lots of time.”

We make choices. Each of us can choose to be either a victim or our own hero. As humans we have the unique capacity to brainstorm possible changes in our beliefs and take all life has to give. Hoping and dreaming about your future is the first step, and it must be followed by action. The internal connection we have does not need anything else.

It should not be surprising to learn that our body’s cells are very smart. In today’s challenging job market, you need to know how to make your smart cells even smarter. Our cells are imbedded with intent and purpose and when we align that energy it will expand our intuition to help us make better choices with greater confidence and clarity. We are multi-cellular organisms and are capable of enpowering our cells to create the changes we need in our lives. Here are three easy steps to create cellular changes to move your life forward:

1. Seek only environments that support your growth and development. The energy we expend in our communities…with our friends, families and associates will either weaken or strengthen us. The more aware we are of our energy drainers, this will allow us to make an imperative decision on whether to expand our time with them or limit it. Analyze the people that surround you and determine what cellular patterns they are creating in your thoughts, feelings and beliefs.

2. Focus your energy on what you want to create twice a day. Take the time to write it out on paper. One friend who I directed on this process is now interviewing for positions that are directly aligned with what she wants to create, after more then a year struggling being unemployed. She was initially reluctant about being focused at this level, but it became critical to teach her this process because the community we surround ourselves must align our own cellular energy for growth.

3. Create cellular memories that reflect what you want. One of the coolest way to activate your cells is by doing the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) while you are focusing on what you want to create. Organizing yourself to allow 15-20 minutes each morning and evening to work at this level will have immediate results. If you’re not familiar with EFT go to http://www.emofree.com

The heart is the most important organ in the body. What we feel deeply in our hearts resonates to all our cells, systems and organs. When you use your intuition to communicate with your heart it will help you speed up the healing process during times of emotional stress. We’ve all been there.. when something has hurt us so deeply we feel it in our heart. Maybe, you’ve noticed this emotion recently when viewing the vivid and deeply painful scenes of the earthquake which has devastated Haiti, or the most common experience is when we go through the pain and heartache of a severe emotional wound.

Researchers at John Hopkins in 2005 diagnosed “broken heart syndrome,” as a reversible heart failure that is not a classic heart attack. High emotional stress was found to be the primary culprit of the symptoms that were produced. The symptoms include: heart pain, shortness of breath, and fluid in the lungs. Middle-aged women are found to the largest segment of the population who suffer from broken heart syndrome.

Recently, a new client came in suffering from a classic case. This healthy, middle-aged woman practiced yoga and led a healthy lifestyle. Despite this, it didn’t prevent the severe pain that occurred when a relationship ended.

My client couldn’t sleep at night because of the pounding in her heart. This can be quite frightening and indeed painful. In many cases, I’ve also seen people who cannot eat or are nauseated to the point of throwing up. Once you have ruled out that this is not a heart attack, the treatment course calls for the client to be intricately involved in their healing process.

Communicating directly with your heart it times of stress is one of the most effective ways to heal. Becoming aware of your heart pain is the first step to working with your body. Telling your heart that you are listening and believe that the pain you are experiencing is a wake up call concerning whatever challenge or issue you are currently facing.

Placing your hands directly on your heart is a highly effective way to connect with this vital organ. Breathe deeply and slowly while you are focused on your heart.

Many times, people are ashamed to admit their deep pain, so turning to a professional will allow for support in your process without judgment. One client who was going through a very painful breakup was told by her mother to “think of her boyfriend as being dead.” This woman ended up in the emergency room later that same night gasping for breath.

No one can tell you exactly when experiencing broken heart syndrome will be over. The process you are involved in is a part of something bigger. It is your intuition alerting you to the need to heal your heart.

Divorce is a very painful experience for many people. The anger, hurt, frustration and sometimes even rage fills our body, mind and spirit to such a high degree that it becomes nearly impossible to listen to your intuition. Tapping into your inner knowing in our darkest moments, will connect you with the energy of grace which has the power to lift you out of any state of consciousness.

One female client who is struggling through a difficult two-year divorce process, found herself facing her worse fear and experienced what I have come to know as, “the dark night of the soul.” When a moment like this occurs we usually find ourselves crying uncontrollably and are at a complete loss for all feelings of hope and love.

Paying attention to yourself in the midst of inner anguish is one of the best ways to intuitively shift out of what you are facing. Allow yourself a specific time to be able to cry, scream, beat a pillow, or even rage about what is going on inside of you. If possible, set a clock and give yourself a deadline on when to stop.

After freely releasing all your emotions, bring yourself back to the present moment by focusing deeply on your breathing. You can immerse yourself in the simple and profound teachings of Thich Nhat Hahn and practice mindful breathing:

In Our

Deep, Slow

Calm, Ease

Smile, Release

Present Moment, Wonderful Moment

The key is to immerse yourself into a feeling of hope. Pray, read something inspirational, put on music that speaks to your soul. Be gentle with yourself and if you feel inclined seek professional guidance for the challenges you are facing.

My client in her moment of despair chose to go to bed with her arms wrapped around her Bible. In describing the experience to me the next day she told me of being intuitively guided to take the book.

Paying attention to the ordinary moments in our lives as well as the extraordinary ones is one of the best ways to use your intuition to shift out of any situation you face. She awakened with a sense of understanding, enlightenment and wisdom about the changes that must be made in her life.

Our intuition responds most effectively when we give our spirit nourishment. As we absorb the truths about ourselves and the lessons the moment has revealed, the powerful energy of grace has the ability to lift you in an instant.

We learn about people on a lot of different levels. We find out their likes and dislikes, but it isn’t until they face a crisis that you really get to know them. It during times of upheaval that turning to our intuition becomes critical in our ability to heal our bodies, minds and spirit.

When we hear a diagnosis about a disease for ourselves or someone we care about, our minds go into an “earthquake mode.” For a while your brain has problems processing what you are hearing, the options to pursue and how to even organize your life to handle it.

In my earlier blog, on “How to Heal A Soul Wound,” I mentioned a young female client who died from colon cancer after undergoing two severe emotional hurts. Today I want to give you a formula for creating a new experience for yourself whenever something happens which spins you out-of-control.

After processing the news of whatever situation you are facing, become acutely aware of any or all group feelings of the people who are supporting you. In the book, Why People Don’t Heal, by Caroline Myss, Ph.D. she calls this the “tribal level.” She says that how the group absorbs this experience is where most people direct their energy in the time of a health crisis.

Myss like me, urges people to go into the “Individual Mind,” where you move out of fear and despair to seek an inner dialogue with yourself about the issue or problem you are facing. Try to determine what patterns of strength and weakness that have influenced your life. Innate patterns reveal themselves to show us valuable insights that play a critical role in any healing process.

In my work, I urge people to say and feel deeply the words, “I Will to Live,” when they are in the midst of upheaval. Myss says in her book to say to yourself a hundred times a day,”The illness is not the issue. The issue is the loss of power this illness generates in my life.”

When we interpret the negative challenges of our lives as a tremendous gift, we realize that we can choose to enpower ourselves by being aware of our patterns and turning to our intuition as a valuable tool in our healing process.

In these challenging times, people are turning more to their beliefs as a way to navigate their life path. Mitch Albom’s book, Have A Little Faith, gives one of the most insightful and enlightening views on the differences and similarities between the beliefs of rich and poor, young and old, Jewish and Christian.

Albom receives a request from his hometown Rabbi to prepare his eulogy. He takes the reader through the sacred community of his youth and brings us up-to-date with what he faces in this momentous task. You might think talking about a person’s eulogy would be terribly morbid, but the book is more about life and how we face it with our faith.

The world acclaimed author of Tuesdays With Morrie, shows us another side of his tremendous talent and abilities by intertwining the story of his Rabbi with that of an African American minister in an inner-city church in Detroit, Michigan. The lives of these men of faith surprise the reader with the intersecting thoughts on the development of their attitudes and beliefs.

In my line of work as an Intuitive Counselor, I hear a lot about faith. Faith comes in many different shapes, colors and ages. Oftentimes, in this hectic world people don’t turn to their faith until things hit rock bottom in their life. There’s no security system you can purchase to help you when you need it. Our beliefs are the cornerstone of our faith and interwoven in the invisible threads of our souls. Intuitively, we are guided on our life path to that which feels familiar. The key is to develop and maintain a ritual and practice to have in place before you find yourself in a period of upheaval. That way, when a bump occurs you can go into automatic pilot and recall what has made you feel good before.

Mortality is an arm’s length away for each of us and knowing what we believe is crucial part of developing a plan to handle whatever life throws our way.
